Today is the day: what to bring, how to plan, and what to expect on the first day of treatment.
You or your loved one is embarking on a journey that begins with the difficult step of leaving their home in exchange for a new home.
What To Bring
Toiletries: Toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, deodorant, shampoo, comb, brush, shaving supplies, etc
Seasonally appropriate clothes. (T-Shirts in Summer, A warm Jacket in Winter) Plenty of socks and underwear
What NOT To Bring
Cologne, mouth wash (anything with alcohol as an ingredient), Snack foods, Energy Drinks
Digital/Wi-Fi Devices: Tablets, Laptops, Phones etc.
When You Arrive
Someone from our admissions team who has been in your shoes, will be there to greet you on our property. A bed will be made up with fresh linens along with a towel and washcloth. A brief intake interview will be conducted to ensure we have all the information we need to provide you with the best care. Often a current guest on property will give you a tour of the grounds so you know where everything is located. This also encourages and allows the guest giving the tour to be of service. That’s how our program works.
You will get out what you put in.
As with most important changes in life, recovery requires willingness and action on your part. The first day of treatment can be emotionally difficult, but it is also the start of a whole new life without the bondage of drugs and alcohol. That will be up to you. We recommend an attitude of open mindedness and willingness.
