If you or a loved one is struggling with alcohol addiction, you may be wondering what appropriate treatment options are available to help ensure a successful recovery. There are certain factors that determine which treatment option is the most suitable for each individual, such as how long the individual has been struggling with alcohol addiction, and how frequently they consume alcohol. For example, those who catch their addictions in the early stages may best benefit from an outpatient program because it allows flexibility to still attend work, school, events, and any other life obligations. Inpatient programs would be more beneficial for those who have struggled with alcohol addiction for years.

What to Expect from Inpatient Treatment Programs

Inpatient treatment programs are the most commonly used treatment options for those who wish to overcome their addiction to alcohol. This program requires individuals to check into a rehab facility and remain there for the entire treatment process. Patients have access to 24-hour care, which includes assistance from medical providers and other specialists. Inpatient programs also have patients on a daily schedule, which often consists of breakfast, therapy sessions, counseling sessions, and other activities.

Types of Inpatient Treatment Programs

There are two main types of alcohol rehab programs, which are inpatient residential rehab and partial hospitalization. Depending on each individual’s case, doctors will recommend which program they believe is the most suitable for a successful recovery.

Inpatient residential rehab facilities offer one, two, and three month programs. Because patients are required to stay in a facility for the entire treatment process, these options yield the best results. Patients will usually detox the first week, and in the following weeks, they will participate in various therapies to overcome their addictions and maintain sobriety.

Partial hospitalization programs are a mixture of inpatient and outpatient treatment options. Although these programs often have patients in a full hospital setting, they are allowed to return home every night. This option benefits individuals who live close to the facility and have a stable home environment that encourages and supports their recovery process. On average, partial hospitalization programs last for about six to eight hours a day, and patients are closely monitored even though they return home every night. The close monitoring helps detect signs of relapsing, withdrawing, or any other health conditions. Alcohol Addiction Recovery and Inpatient Treatment Programs

Depending on how long individuals have been struggling with alcoholism, they may select a 30-day treatment program or a long-term treatment program. After they complete these programs, they can also participate in Alcoholics Anonymous or meet with an alcohol counselor on a consistent basis to ensure they remain on track with their sobriety goals.
